Can You Help Me Out? -- I Need A Paint Job

Wow. All these beautiful fox bodies I see, just on this site alone!

I thought all these cars were repainted?

These cars are 25 years and older, how do you guys get your cars to look this good. There's only so much a good wax and detailing job can do.

If a good paint job cost $10,000, I would say only 2% of foxbodys are repainted.

I don't even see rock chips in the hood in most of these cars or chips in the rear quarter panel.

For actual cost of individual colors, reds are the priciest.

This is if you're buying it yourself to spray.

A shop won't charge a premium for the color unless you want something special like a three stage color or mystichrome black.

Paint and body is expensive, but it is a lot of work. A tech that can do the work properly is worth his wages though.

You should weigh the amount of money you can put into this project with the amount of work you're willing to do yourself.

Fox bodies are still a hobby car, not an investment car. You WILL put more money into it than you will be able to ever recover from.

Bright side is, they're fun to work on. If you need any help I'll do whatever I can to help you out.

I'm a bit discouraged searching for a Foxbody now with knowing how much it cost to get the car painted and keep the body lines correct.

I definitely knew I would put more money in then the car would be worth.

Don’t get discouraged, there are nice stangs to be had out there. Sometimes it takes a little while. What part of the country are you in?

"Nothing's easy", one of my favorite sayings.

Your mustang can be really rewarding though. Don't let the details suck you down yet. Don't shoot for the concourse restoration at first, get a nice daily driver that you can enjoy as you work on it.

Enjoy the driving experience as you do a little here and a little there. This is a fun hobby that produces a neat hot rod.

In the end, that's what it's about. Hot rodding.

You know what’s funny? People have inhabited this place way before the pilgrims came. We have a church in Santa Fe that was built in the early 1600’s. The church in Old Town Albuquerque was built in 1706. But, new state, yes. 1912.
