is it possible to put a jack under the k member, keep the motor bolted to the k member, unbolt the k member from the car and lower it a few inches? or will the k member just tople over with the motor still attached and make me have a bad day? sorry for the noobish question...

im trying to make my header install as easy as possible and this idea is in my head but i don't want to try it until somebody thats smarter than me says it can happen...id be a little upset if i went to lower it all and it just fell ya know.... any input would be extremely appreciated

a reply really would be nice.. i dont have an engine hoist so i cant hold the motor and drop the k...and i saw on a write up where the guy had a 2x4 under the oil pan with the jack holding the motor up like that but i really dont want to chance crushing my oil pan in... so i need to find an easy way out on this because i really really REALLY do not want to pay to have these installed...

i have all the tools and in theory this should work but ive never heard/seen this done before...please help

yes, i have done it. thats actually how i prefer to pull a motor on a mustang, disconnect hoses, electrical connectors on top, and on the bottom pullthe driveshaft, disconnect the clutch cable, take off the strut to knuckle bolts and hang the front calipers, and it drops in one piece.
