Can't find brake pads for my 73mm calipers?

I went w/ a set of 88 crown vic police package calipers. I went to get the pads for the same car and the guy gave me a set of pads that were a cartridge style and I told him that's not what I needed. I needed a set w/ the clips that slide into the piston. Anybody have a part # for the pads or can I use? Will the pads for a 91 lincoln mark vII or 86 svo work w/ the vic calipers since they are all still 73mm? I would like to finish the brakes already but have wasted two days trying to find the right pads for it. :damnit:

SVO Pads will work, and even regular Fox pads will work..

the regular fox pads won't work. the piston is much larger on the new calipars so the clips are too small. The outer pads work fine but the inner won't b/c the diameter of the piston is much bigger. If the stock pads worked on that wouldn't it mean the piston is the exact same as stock and I would basically have stock replacment calipers. right?

Regular stock fox pads fit fine, they just fit a little snug.

Edit:

You might try looking for pads for a '91 Crown Vic police package...

If you specify SVO calipers, they come with a phenoilic piston that has a slightly smaller inner diameter due to thicker walls (for strenght). Fox pads WILL work for these calipers

Police crown vic calipers are a steel piston unit with thinner walls. Try looking for pads for the police crown vic

I did try to buy pad for the police pkg calipers and the guy gave me a box w/ a set of cartridge style pads. I told him I needed a set w/ clips and he was like these are the pads for the police package crown vic so you don't have the police package if these don't work.

So I'm thinking this guy was an idiot. Will lincoln mark vII pads work w/ these? I have the crown vic calipers w/ the thinner walls so I need a set of pads w/ a larger clip to hold them in the piston b/c the stock clips is defeinetly too small for it to hold the pad will move all over the place inside this piston if I use stock pads.

hmm... the guy might have just been an idiot like you said... I work at the distribution warehouse for ford, so let me look in the computer tomorrow for the 88 crown vic police pads and I will check to see if they are the type you need or if that guy was right.

The police package pads ended up working. I went to a different store and asked for the same pads. This time the clips needed to install the pads were in the box apparently the other set I bought had them missing. So the calipers are now on the car ..........finally.

hey man. Can you run down exactly what you bought for that upgrade? I have an 85gt that Im trying the same brake setup. I have the 87+ V8 spindles and planned on 73mm calipers with steel pistons and new pads, SS lines, and rotors. Id really appreciate your help on this man. Thanks
