I just cant get it off. I am pretty sure its stripped. I tried hammering a box end wrench on it, no luck, I tried hammering the T50 bit in it, nothing. And I can find my ****ing vice grips.

Where can I get a lower caliper bolt with a normal ****ing head?

same thing happened to my honda about 3 weeks ago. i had my rotors turned close to 2 years ago and those idiots put the calipers back on with a air gun. which is fine if you know what you are doing. i found out ( 3 weeks ago ) they had obviously started it crossthreaded and just soured down on it instead of backing it out and doing it right.

it WOULD NOT come out. not only did i have to buy a new caliper bracket but a caliper and bolt as well

i wish i could say something to help. just make sure you work on it before 9:00. sucks when you find problems and need parts and the parts stores are closed

you need a torch and good accuracy. turn the steering wheel so the bolt is at the best angle. I assume you've soaked it with penetrating oil already?

Those are a nightmare. Are you by chance upgrading your brakes? If so you only need to take the caliper braket bolts out from the spindle. But otherwise, yeah, use lots of heat and elbow grease.

I had to use a BIG Pipe Wrench on mine.. The longer the better

Best part I went to sears to buy that torx bit for my socket .. It was a waste of time.. One turn I see that the bolt was getting stripped ..

Yea, mine is stripped as hell.

So does anyone know where I can get a caliper bolt with a normal head?

The ones we sold at the parts store when I worked there were allen-head bolts. Slightly better I guess but still very stripable.

mine did the same thing when i did my brakes

i ended up going at it with a torch and a chisel/hammer combo....i finally got it to break loose after super heating it and hitting it with the chisel as hard as i possibly could.

good luck

btw, you do have atleast a 1/2 breaker bar right? 3/4 is optimal (and worth it with a 3/4 to 1/2 adaptor).

Mine took a decent amount of heat. MAPP torch is better than propane, but oxy-acetylene is best

After some bad experiences like this, I just always take my caliper off at the spindle now. 15MM hex head FTW.

when I was doing my brakes I stripped the everliving **** out of that T-50 torx bit on the caliper, I ended up taking it to the shop to let them do it and they replaced it with a standard head bolt, thank god.

I also ran into this. I held my breath, held the back of the breaker square into the hole and pushed on the breaker with the other hand. Click. Ya never know if it was a good click or a bad one till you try to turn it some more.

I neverseized the crap out of that bolt upon reinstallation. New bolts are 8 dollars at the parts stores here (reportedly - I only looked them up online so far).

Good luck.
