i'm pissed because there is no car parts place anywhere nearby and i am without a car because my wife's caravan is in the shop for like a week. i'm working from home.

i started with an open ended wrench, but it wasn't budging and the wrench was opening up so i gave up. maybe i'll get some better wrenches. there is a hardware store nearby, i can ride my bike there.

btw paul, did you get my pm about the heads you are selling?
sounds like you need to take a ride to sears and pick up a craftsman open end. ;)

If you end up using the proper puller for this, here's another tip:
Thread a short (3/8 - 1/2 long) standard bolt (5/16 I think) by hand into the hole in the end of the shaft. Thread it all the way This will give the thrust button (I know, I know. :rlaugh: ) on the puller something flat to sit on. The first time I tried to pull the pulley off, the edge of the thrust button went into the hole and I ended up cocking the puller which peeled the pulling ring off of the pulley. I use the bolt trick and have never had a problem since.

Well you will need something like this :

Or like this , just looking at the pictures you get the idea how it works :

now for putting it back you will need this one :

you also can get the idea how it works , i actually bought both as a package from a NAPA , for like 40 bucks , nice tool to have on the tool stock! u will never know when it will become handy.

Just a little note :

I had a real hard time pulling this pulley out i will sound like you are going to break something , and for moments i thought the puller will not stand it any more the TQ needed , recomendation put some moly or engine oil to the thread of the tool when pulling/installing , i havnt installed yet since i am not done , but i have readed that u will better boil that pulley before for a easier installation!

i finally got the damn thing off. i got another power steering pulley puller, this time from advance. it probably would have worked, but it is a generic one and the bolt is too long to fit straight on the pulley, so i gave up on that idea. so i went back to the "try to stick a wrench on from the side" approach, and i came across a 14mm closed end wrench that i was able to get on the bolt. but i couldn't get enough leverage on it to start it, so i ended up standing a hammer on its handle on the wrench and i was finally able to get the bolt started.
