Cant get rear control arm lined up

I put in my new springs. I am having a problem getting the axle to line up with my lower control arm to bolt it in. Are u supposed to have the spring in before you try to connect the rear bolt or not because I did try that with no luck. Any hints would help.

Chances are the pinion angle changed when you took the control arm off, so it's being a PITA to put back in. If you have another set of jackstands to use, put them under the axle housing, so you can use the jack to manipulate the housing to get it lined up.

Remove lower shock bolts on both sides. Install both lca's w/o springs in them. Jack up opposite side of rear that ur working on, then install the spring (will give u tons of room to work. Lower opposite side jack and check spring install (make sure its positioned correctly)

Do the same for other side. Real easy to install lca's w/o springs but u will f with it all day with the springs in them not to mention the lca could slip off the jack and make the spring shoot out possibly causing bodily harm. (or just scare the chit out of u)

Reinstall lower shock bolts (and quads if they aply), reinstall wheels and have fun!!!

I put my LCAs and springs in at the same time. The only prob I had was kinda like the one you are having. Hard time getting the LCA to rear housing bolt to line up. I used another jack under the front of the rear housing to adjust the pinion angle so I could get the bolt through. Worked like a champ.

I had the same problem, I used a ratchet strap to pull it back into place.

+ 1million! Ive done this twice now (Once for springs and once for torque box reenforcements). Jack the car up by the frame rails. Unbolt the shock, put a small jack under the LCA to help raise it into place. Take a ratchet strap and tie it to the axle and the torque box. Jack the LCA so the hole lines up vertically. Then Use the ratchet strap to pull the axle into line with the LCA. VOILA! Slide bolt in and your done. Good luck! :nice:

::EDIT:: Another tip. Just zip tie the top of the spring to the upper seat. That way you dont have to worry about it falling out at the last second while your while your jacking things into place. Remember, the pig tail faces twards the car, not away from it.

put the car on jack stands at the rear jacking points. then jack up on the rear under the carrier. unbolt your shocks and lower the jack down. bolt the uppers in place then the lowers. now position the springs in the mount and jack up on the carrier till the shock can be reattached. good luck!:nice:
