cant get the speedo out

i cant get the speedo cable out of my cluster any one have any idea what it could be i dont wanna pry on it and screw anything up i tried squeezing and pulling and turning and pulling just wont come out (by the way its an 86 if it helps). i had no problem doing my 90 but this one is bein retarded. thanks in advance

Where it attaches to the cluster there is that plastic clip. Under the collar of that white plastic clip. usually towards the bottom side there will be a little push pin retainer, you will only be able to see a tiny bit of it unless you pull back on that plastic piece. It's looks like a flat head screw almost, push it in and pull out on the cable.

Mine has the white clip that twist on and locks it in so it don't come out

well i tried twisting it that dont work ill try again tomorrow it got dark

Huh, on both my cars. under the plastic clip there was a round metal push pin. you put a small screwdriver in it and wiggle it some, then the speedo cable slides out when the clip disengages. Takes all of about 20 seconds....

i know my 90 didnt have a push pin it just turned and slid right out
