Well i went to the shop today, and asked him for the price to replace all the bearings in my differential plus rebuild my t-lok, and the guy told me i cant replace the clutches?? is that true? he said i have to buy a new posi ($425) and also, he was charging me $400 to replace all my rear end bearings, everything included (labor,parts,etc..) am i getting ripped off?? ive see nthe rebuild kits for like 50 bux, can i plz get u guys input. thankz

I had my stock rear end rebuilt completely for $250. That included rebuild kit, parts, labor, and fluid.

For $900 i got a 31 spline FRPP differential, 31 spline moser axles, welded torque boxes, welded axle tubes, including all labor and parts. That included extra stuff in the rear that i broke, abs ring, and carrier bearings.

So yeah he is trying to bend you over and do you dry.

Josh

go to a different shop. completely rebuilt my rear end, including new clutches, gears and new bearings. I bought the rebuild kit and gears from gef racing, and the trac-loc kit from steeda. the labor to get everything installed came to about 250

ok the labor price for the rear end rebuild is ok.. but he does not want too rebuild the posi.. that kind of scares me.. the posi rebuild is very easy as long as you dont mix the shims up..

so only looking at labor for installing all bearings from differential, gears and t-lok rebuild, around how much am i expecting to spend?? you guys think i can pull it off with $500 for everything (gears, bearings, fluids, t-lok,labor)??? i think i will be supplying the parts, might come out cheaper.

clutches... quick and easy. the rest... better read up. of course you already have preload and clearances set for you. bearings change it little. everything can be rebuilt. "we have the technology" i believe he said.

well i ordered frpp 3.73 gears and the t-lok rebuild, i will be ordering the bearings soon from gefracing. my cost for parts is gonna be around 300. hopefully a shop can do the install for 200, so it leaves me at 500. u guys think i can find sumwhere to install for 200??

heh, im in the same boat with you black stang, I have all the parts for basically a rear-end rebuild but no shop to do it. Went to the dealer for a laugh, they quoted $1000 for everything.

$1000 is HIGH.. 200 is LOW i would do it for 300 or so.. another thing you got too watch for is not all techs are equal.. and not all give a crap about your car or doing it right.. a rear end job is a high skill job.. i would find a shop that other mustang owners have used and do good work.. even if you pay a bit more.. it's better than haing constant whine problems or the bearings failing a thousand miels latter.
