Well the new thermostat did not cure the surging temperature and now the car is bogging kinda when I give it gas, maybe it's just being wierd because it was cold. But I get my new coolant temp. sending unit in tomorrow so maybe that'll fix it because it aids in the A/F ratio and timing and what not. Any suggestions?

Maby your problem is much deeper. The insturment gauge sender and the engine coolant temp sensor are two different sensors. Are you getting any exaust in the radiator?
