car alarm time...

Well I'm going to be removing my dash (for the 3rd time) so I can start my black interior swap. While it's out I'd like to install an alarm system. But hide the "alarm module" and wires way up in the dash to fool any potential burglers. lol

I don't have power windows or door locks But I'd like to be able to add a super bright interior light (LEDs?) and control that via the remote.

what would be a good system

what do you mean by control an led? do you mean to have one flash while the alarm is armed and what not? If so most fo the alarm systems run an aux output to run the warning lights off of. If you are talking about making some other bright leds turn on or off with an accessory button on the alarm you need an alarm with programmable outputs. Most name brand (clifford, dei, marksman, etc....) have programable output channels. I am running a marksman M11 in my daily driver and my wifes truck. I havent decided on an alarm for my mustang.

I ended up getting a Viper 350HV. It works well. I only really wanted the keyless entry. I did have them install a hatch popper to the programmable button. LOVE THAT. It has a 1/16" blue LED that is nicely placed over the steering column, basically flush into the plastic. VERY bright. Lights up the whole damn car when it flashes lol.

My only gripe is i think it recognizes sounds that may be harmful, so like if there is a loud bang outside then the alarm goes off, even if it cant "feel" it. So needless to say it goes off way too much and I usually just have the actual alarm feature defeated most of the time


Oh...and couldnt you just get some actuators and wire em in? You dont necessarily need the buttons. Ive never seen a no power fox, but they are just riveted right to the door. Im guessing you may have a plug there instead?. Then they just clip right on the rod you already have i'd imagine. They're pretty cheap from 50resto.

I have an AUTOPAGE alarm system. It is a paging alarm with shock sensors, it doesn't go off all te time which is good, but if someone breaks, tilt, smash my car or windows it goes off. I'm very happy with it

I would advise against a flashing LED that you can see in the car from a distance. Sometimes that screams out to an experienced theif "Hey look, I have expensive stuff in here that I am trying to protect." An experienced thief can break into a car and disable an alarm very quickly. I say get a light that flashes that is only visible to a person who is standing by your car about to throw a brick through the window. Just my 2 cents.

not sure what u r looking for, but all i can say is i highly recommend a 2way alarm. one that sends a signal to your keys. that way, even if you can't see or hear your car, you still know it's ok. I have underground parking, and was VERY paranoid after a couple breakins to the garage. i had an alarm before, so they left it alone, but i'd never hear it if they did do something to my stang... and as the mods and work add up on my car, it rises on my list of best investments! u will never see that money from an insurance company! who knows, maybe i'll get some use out of my louisville this summer !

yeah I'm looking at 2 ways with microwave sensors. The super bright LED would be in the stock courtesy light location. I'm not talking about the flashing indicator.

Oh and I want to put the horns inside the CAB, 120db in the robbers ears should make him run for his life lol

Plus I have my own fuel and ignition cut offs hidden in the car I also want to rig a metal bracket that I can lock onto the clutch so it can't be pressed in. Only for when I let the car sit for long periods.

On the no power doors, mine was like that when I got it new. It did not have any wires into the doors at all. If you have power mirrors, it might have the rubber door wire boots, but if not you would have to add the boots along with the door actuators and wiring. There were a few cars made with power locks only, the lock button fits in the black plug on the front of the non power window armrest. I just got some universal actuators from www.partsexpress.com for less than $18 a pair and wired them up to work.

I'd keep the siren under the hood and use piezos under the dash. They're much smaller and lead to blood coming out of the ears easier.

If you have a buddy who is good at wiring, buy pizza and sodas and have him come over and assist with the install.
