I want to get an alarm for my stang. I want to know which ones the best. I have a stick so I can't get remote start. I was thinking about getting the Viper 850 XV.

What are some opinions on theViper alarms, and what are some of the ones you guys have?

Thanks

Just to clarify one thing you said, just because you have a manual doesn't mean you can't get a remote starter. If you look through JC Whitney and Crutchfield, you can find them for sticks now.

I have a Viper. I suggest using mercury sensors for the trunk & hood..not pin switches. They will also trip if car is picked up on an angle.

I have Viper alarms in both my Mustang and F150. The one in my Stang is 7 years old and my truck's is 2. Both work great and are very reliable. I keep the sensitivity low to minimize false alarms. The second button on the Viper key fob can be programmed to open the Stang's trunk which is very convenient. Viper is a very good alarm for the money.

I have a Clifford (DEI product) Alarm is in my sig.

The remote is badass, I installed the alarm myself and it wasn't too bad. Gives me lock/unlock, trunk, warn etc.

If someone touches the car, it sets off a small warning chirp to get them away...and tells you on the remote. If the alarm is tripped, the remote beeps as well. Remote works supposedly 1/4 mile, I've had it from the 15th floor of my dorm and it works to the car parked 1/4 mile away in a lot with 300 other cars.

I'm getting an Autopage RF-520LCD installed right now. My friend has the earlier model on his Grand Prix GT and loves it.

Leave it in gear without a safety switch, hit the button, car takes off and drives into whatevers in front of it.

Happens more often than you think.

Thats crazy...but I guess if your in the habit of leaving it in gear when you get out it could be hard to break that habit. I guess since Im from Houston and its flat I just us the ole parkin brake. Now watch my parking break go out and it rolls into sumtin becouse I parked on a slight incline..

I have a audiovox Prestige alarm. The alarm is pretty good, but the transmitters are crap. The push buttons on the circuit board stop working.

My next alarm will be a Clifford Matrix. http://www.clifford.com/matrix/feature/default.asp

is it easy to install alarms? I'm considering a Clifford Matrix 2.5x ... Although you get a lifetime warranty if an authorized Clifford dealer installs it.

So are you saying you can get a remote start installed that comes with a safety switch so the car won't turn on if accidently left in first gear?
