Ok, so I need a new stereo and speakers. I was looking at getting a Pioneer Premier DEH-P780MP head unit and Infinity Reference 6-1/2" 2-Way Components for the front and Infinity Reference 5" x 7" / 6" x 8" 2-Way Speakers for the back.

I really want to rewire the car. I've done it with a friend in his 4Runner, but that was pretty simple. There was no factory amp, and they were just regular speakers, not components. Any help would be appreciated!

I'll probably also be adding a 12 in a sealed box later down the road.

I know a little about car audio. As far as I know, there is not a factory amp for fox bodies? Maybe I'm wrong. All my speakers are wired off the head unit.

There is a "Car Audio" section on the general forum list, you'll have better luck in there.

I'm pretty sure there was. The previous owner took it out and replaced the speakers with more cheap crap. He rewired it, but did a horrible job. The back speakers play at different volumes and the speaker wires are all different colors.

there was factory amp, just rewire the things stright off of the headunit, using all good matching wire and you'll have no problems

I believe you're correct.

I put in those following this summer. New JVC CD/MP3 Deck: IPOD Ready/Sat Ready, New 5x7 Infinty Speakers in the rear (Which I love to death), & Two Rockford 10's Subs w/975 Watt Amp. Keep the same Pioneer speakers in the front. Sounds good. Plan on putting another set up front and will most like go with Infinty's.

How do I wire the tweeters from the components?

That makes sense, and would explain why my car doesn't have one

Get Infinity components. I have the "Gold" series all around, with a Diamond CM3 12'' sub and a Rockford Fosgate amp for the sub. It sounds fantastic.

Just wire all of the speakers off of your head-unit. Unless you amp your components. In that case, you'll need a RCA cable from your deck to the amp, turn-on lead from deck to amp, power cable, and of course a ground.

When wiring the components, just wire the positive & negative leads of both the tweeters and the mids to the crossover. The crossover should be labeled, if not, check the manual. Then the components to the amp.

With the comps, I would recommend getting an amp to power them. It will sound a lot better, cleaner, and louder. However, from what I hear, Infinity components have a rather harsh tweeter, and the mids aren't too "commanding." Sound deadening your doors should improve this.

What would you suggest getting then? I'd like all the speakers to run off the head-unit. I was told components are best for sound quality, which is my top priority. And I'll be getting a small 12, probably a jl audio 12w1 later on.

Don't waste your money on a W1. I saw one crack the day it was installed (the cone is plastic) at a sub competition.

I have the infinity "gold series" in my fox. 6x9's in the back, the door speakers, and the ones on the dash. Not sure on the sizes on those, but they aren't elliptical. They sound fantastic..now I just wish I had an amp to power them.

a friend of mine has 2 w1s and they sound great. i just want to get the low frequencies, and jl does sound quality. how did you fit 6x9s in the back?

You would be better off buying other products than JL.

you should amp the speakers....like I did.

Then you just need to run RCA's from the headunit to the amp, and then run speaker wire from the amp out to all the speakers.

I have Infinity Kappa 6.5" components in my doors. Even w/o the sound deadening they sound brilliant. I marked and cut a hole in the door panel right above the switches and mounted the tweeter there and bagged the crossover (to protect against moisture) and zip tied it to one of the available cross beams in the door. The wiring is pretty simple once you figgure out the mounting. When I get home I'll see if I have pics of it.

I'm actually considering doing another set in the rear. Using a 5x7 to 6.5" conversion plate to mount the woofer and then drilling the tweeter in somewhere above the back seat.
