I noticed that whenever I first start my car, the first time I try to get on it a little, the car bogs down for a second, then takes off. It usually only does this once. I live right off of a 55mph avenue, and I usually have to pound out there to get into traffic, because people space out just perfect enough to leave me sitting there for an hour if I don't go. It almost feels like someone has a rope tied to my car and is holding me back, then suddenly let go. I also notice the car pops a hell of a lot more too, when I use the engine to slow me down. I know, it's no good, but I like to hear the popping sometimes :) I always let my car warm up, but it doesn't make a difference. It has to be driven to make it not bog. Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

It probaly has something to do with spark.
When was the last time you had a tune up done
spark plugs, spark plug wires, and coil packs?
I had a miss before on my car and the mechanic
at the Ford Dealership told me my car just needed
new Motorcraft spark plugs and spark plug wires.

just try cleaning out the IAC valve first. or you may have to replace it, but try cleaning it first you may get away with this and save a few bucks. Most of the time the IAC is the problem that you describe, even the popping on decel when in gear like you describe. Can be caused by the IAC valve sticking and not working properly.

Awesome, I'll replace the IAC tomorrow.

DarkHorse, I have COPs, and I replaced my plugs with Denso Iridiums about a month ago, so those are cool.

Another quick question, is it ok to use Brakleen to clean the egr and DPFE? I used to spray teh crap out of old dying starters with Brakleen, and they would last another month or so before a rebuild. Also, would using my air compressor mess up them? Like, too much pressure? Thanks!

My stang used to do the exact same thing. I would try to go but the motor just was just popping like crazy and then as soon as i went past 3/4 throttle it went back to normal. (like how it should be pulling). I got some fuel injector cleaner made by OUTLAW (its got the horse on it) and it cleared that up right away and i got all my power back if not more. I got it at advance auto for $1.50 All the rest of outlaw's stuff is like 3-4 bucks if not more and i figured this was a misprint so i got it. lol...I dont see how it could be the IAC since that is only "working" when the throttle plate is all the closed.
