Ok....for the last month i have had a starting problem with my car, it won't start, i have replaced the started, starter selenoid, the coil, battery and basically everthing i THOUGHT was the problem (by searching this site), is so wiered it wont crank or anything the starter doesn't even turn............the only thing it does when i try to start it is just make a buzzing noise from the starter selenoid, what could it be???

Could it be from the battery ground wire??

Please help me, i am dying over here........... :(

Have you checked the battery terminals and all connections on the starter solenoid and starter. Double check to make sure you have a good ground going to the engine block. If you have a quick disconnect on the negative side battery terminal it could be the problem as well.

As Ozsum said, take your battery cables off on both ends and clean them down to bare shiny metal on all ends. There shouldn't be paint where the ground wire connects either. If it's an automatic, you may need to adjust your neutral safety switch. Check that the solenoid, coil,etc... have the correct wires going to the correct posts. When did you start having the problem?

I started having this problem like a month ago, all of the sudden it wouldn't start, like i drove home and it just wouldn't start........where is the neutral saftey switch, under the shifter??

PMR I am having the same issue. It turned over a couple times and then the relay started clicking and thats all it does. I tried juming it and I cant find any disconneted ground (or any) wires. Have you tried that starter stuff you spray directly into the engine?

You're referring to Ether. You don't need that. I know that it's sometimes hard to believe, but it really most often is an electrical problem. If the starter doesn't turn over. You (as several have already said here) need to check your ground to the engine, check the battery, clean and sand all connections to the battery, solenoid, starter etc.

Once you've cleaned all your connections, and it still doesn't start then I'd say it has to be the neutral safty switch. Assuming you have an Auto, try pushing the shift handle forward with a pretty good amount of force while turning the key. If it works then that is your problem. You can also try starting the car in neutral. The safty switch seems to have a narrow window, so in neutral try pushing the shift lever up and down without actually going into a gear while at the same time trying to start it. If you determine that the safty switch needs adjusting, it is located on the selector lever of the transmission. You'll need a drill bit or a steel rod to adjust it.

make sure you have a engine ground strap going from the engine to the chassis(or battery negative).Ideally it should be the same size as the cable going to the starter(which should be as big as you can afford for less voltage drop). The starter gets its power from a cable, but it just grounds to the engine/flywheel housing. Those need to be grounded back to the chassis(or battery negative directly).Believe it or not, not having an engine ground strap can hurt your tranny and/or u-joints from having high current going through them instead of a proper ground.
