Here are the full details. I have an '85 mustang. 302, b303 cam, performer RPM, holley 600cfm carb, new battery, new alternator, new voltage regulator, new fuel filter, new fuel hose from the fuel filter to the fuel pump, and new gasket for the fuel pump.

The car started dying and not holding a charge about a month ago. The fuel pump started leaking the same time. I have a mechanical fuel pump, but could those problems be related?

When I put a full charge on the battery about 2 weeks ago, everything seemed fine. Now it's doing the same thing. leaking, not holding a charge, dying while driving. I'm glad I asked for the towing/roadside assistance package on my insurance, because I've been towed about 3 times now. could someone provide some input?

Prob not related.

Have the charging system tested and/or look for parasitic draws (like a glovebox light staying illuminated at all times).

Have you isolated the FP leak?

Is the leak great enough that it could be causing the stalling?

Most likely not related.

If I were you I would take out the alternator yourself its pretty easy and go get it tested, if there was a fuel leak somewhere it is possible it may have hit the alternator which would cause it not to work. But the only problem is I dont think that the alternator warranty protects any type of fluid damage to it. Just to double check that, it is not the alternator. Then I would do the same for the battery to see if its simply defective.

Now to my understanding you said that your car isnt holding a charge? Does your car start at all? Because if it starts and doesnt idle thats a whole different issue. That could be caused by mutiple leaks, especially the EGR valve (basically controls the air/idle of your car). You may definitely be able to drive it but when you slow down or come to a complete start it will die on you and show a battery light which isnt a battery problem at all. So just double check and see that you dont have any leaks with the EGR valve (which is connected to your throttle body and connects to your exhaust)
