Hey guys, just got the stang up on the road again. We ran into a few snags but itll be easy to fix. the damn king cobra clutch wouldnt disengage, so i had to pull the tranny down on the ground and replace the clutch. then i test drove it and i found a coolant leak and where does it decide to leak on??? My new damn clutch is the answer. Now my clutch is slipping. So i need to replace the clutch again. :bang: :bang: All in all, the car runs pristine, lopes like a sob, a few problems that ill fix asap. Ive got pics, ill post them soon.

Awesome, what kind of break in procedure are you going to follow? If something were to happen to my short block i would do the exact same thing u did.
im doing a 1200-1500 break in period. im driving around looking for some traffic to get those rings seat properly. after that, all hell is breaking all sorts of loose

That's great Allan! I fear my poor baby might have to fall under the knife after this past weekend. It seems the stock shortblock doesn't like the RPM's associated with a 3rd to 2nd shift at ~80MPH with 4.10's..... something is hurt I just need to find it now.

Got everything up on my website for everyone to look at. It was a long, endearing process but we didn't give up. Have a look

Paul- i read that in your post. that sucks ass man. You were so damned close to your goal it wasn't even funny. I definently know what you mean about money man. I got "lucky" and some kid backed into me and paid me $800 to not call his insurance company. And the dent can be popped out, i just need to find the time. Good luck with it all and get that baby running!! :nice:

I got a 347 stroker in the process of being built. I'll be following this link for break-in
http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm and also following what the guys on hardcore5.0 say: Get it warmed up and take it to an open road and take it up to around 4000, 5000, 6000 a few times under a low/medium load and let it coast down in gear. Do this a few times varying the load, rpm and speed then come home and change the oil and filter. Then from then on I would think just drive it as you normally would but i'd also vary the rpm and speed and I wouldn't be afraid to abuse it to. What you don't want to do it get it running and drive it like an old person for "1000 miles". Thats incorrect.

Congrats Allen. Big accomplishment, its amazing what we can do if we put our head into it. Did you build the shortblock or did the machine shop build it and you put the h/c/i on?

Yea,

I've heard two different schools of thought on this subject matter, and was curious as to which one to go by. I mean, I want the ideal break-in procedure. On one hand, when someone buys a new car, there is nothing mentioned about an extended break in procedure(1000-1500miles), right? But on the other hand, many people have done it that way for years, and have had no problems with it. Will driving the car the way grn92lx has in his post hurt the engine at all? thanks for the help guys,

Lenny

He basically said get it warmed up and make some steady low load pulls to like 4000, 5000, 6000 and let it coast down in gear a few times. Come home and change the oil. He wasn't a huge fan of the link but he told me he'll be breaking in his new motor at the track.

I already researched on hardcore50.com how to properly break in a roller motor. Basically, just follow the link. New motor, a new clutch and my car will probably be seeing 6000 rpm with in the first hour its running.
