Congrats Allen. Big accomplishment, its amazing what we can do if we put our head into it. Did you build the shortblock or did the machine shop build it and you put the h/c/i on?

I've heard two different schools of thought on this subject matter, and was curious as to which one to go by. I mean, I want the ideal break-in procedure. On one hand, when someone buys a new car, there is nothing mentioned about an extended break in procedure(1000-1500miles), right? But on the other hand, many people have done it that way for years, and have had no problems with it. Will driving the car the way grn92lx has in his post hurt the engine at all? thanks for the help guys,

He basically said get it warmed up and make some steady low load pulls to like 4000, 5000, 6000 and let it coast down in gear a few times. Come home and change the oil. He wasn't a huge fan of the link but he told me he'll be breaking in his new motor at the track.

I already researched on hardcore50.com how to properly break in a roller motor. Basically, just follow the link. New motor, a new clutch and my car will probably be seeing 6000 rpm with in the first hour its running.
