hey i have a 93 hatch.. if its jerkin when u start driving or when your iddle and revin it up... then it may be the o2 censor or the mass air flow if u can get it down to autozone they do that dignostic check to fine out why the check engine light is on.

My local AZ said they couldn't check my car? I didn't ask why or anything but I never really understood why not. It was weekday morning so I couldn't imagine they were that busy?

Suggest pulling the codes before you do anything else. Search around a bit here, all it takes is a short jumper wire at the EEC4 test connector. Check the 5.0 Tech forum, Jrichker has excellent writeups on all of this stuff.

Unless it has an obvious problem, like a loose vacuum line, you are wasting time without the codes.

It's not the 02 sensor...they don't have that large of an effect on the way it runs...

Well you guy's have been a good help! I got to look it over better tonight and i found one plug not shure what it goes to? I also went to get more gas in it and it seems to be doing a little better. I bought it lastnight and the guy i bought it from said it sat for about a month because the alt. went out so maybe i just had bad gas? I crossed refrence the plugs to my 95 gt and they are the same so i'll sweap them tomorrow night as well as the plug wires. This is the first 4 banger i seen with 8 plugs? and coil packs? Weird??? I got a set of drilled and slotted rotors from a guy a week ago and with it came a set of 8 bosh +4 plugs so they will go in it since they fit. I'll keep ya posted on how things go peace

Well i did plugs, wires, air and fuel filter lastnight, and now the thing dosent jerk at all! Has some good power for a 4 cyl I'm really impressed in it even comming from me that is use to my 95 gt (5.0) that has mods on it. So the problem i was having with the jerking and no power was from only haveing 5 of the plugs firing i pulled off 3 wires and none of them were even on the plugs 1 of them looked as if whoever did them before me thought it ws plugged in but was just laying next to the plug the other 2 were on the plug but when i took it off you could tell that it was burnt or broke inhalf. So now i'm enjoying this thing was more now! So it runs excellent and dosent smoke or smell bad but the check engine light is still on? peace
