Car Loses Power When Hot...then it turns back on

Please help...

94 stang loses power as it heats up. it runs perfectly when cool but when at temp power really suffers......and then all of the sudden at like 3/4 to full throttle BAM it comes back on but only for a few secs..

im puzzled.

bad O2 maybe? Maf? but no code. it does seem to run a little rich. pretty much still stock until i have time to put all of my crap on it.

i also should add that underhood temps get pretty high. some cooling work is definitely on the agenda.

i had a similar symptom. turned out to be a loose plug wire.

Pull the codes first. What temps are you running at when it does this?

Definitely pull the codes. Could be an O2. They're ignored until they're heated up, and also at WOT, so your symptoms sound like that's a possibility. Also, like Chris said, check your plug wires. A lot of guys have bad luck with them getting burnt by the headers once hot and losing their spark to that cylinder.

Has anyone considered the induction system? If the under hood temps are getting too hot, could be taking out the TFI mounted on the wheelwell. Just a thought.

Pull some codes, the car shutting off sounds like a side effect of a more serious problem causing the high temps under the hood.
