I just got an Ebay CAI and the Pypes true dual exhaust system with an X pipe and I dont really think that I gained much HP and got a loud car with no b*lls to go with the sound.

Am I supposed to get my stang chipped to get the extra pep out of my car? Something has to have gone wrong

Im actually thinking of going back to stock...

HELP!

How much hp were you expecting? I'ts gonna take a lot more work to probably get the "pep" your looking for.

My expectations are pretty reasonable. I was expecting a total of 20-30 horses, but I think I dont even think I got anywhere near 20 horses. The car is definitely louder, but not much throttle response... Im just trying to figure out what could have gone wrong.

A 30 horse increase is pretty hard to quantify without a dyno or a run down the 1/4. It's definitely not enough to really feel in the seat of your pants.

You may be expecting the car to be just as fast as the noise implies, and that's why it seems to feel slow. An aftermarket exhaust on a stock car usually results in nothing more than increased noise. Duals and CAI won't really start to work unless you move on to head work or forced induction.

when u changed your exhaust did u eliminate your cats if u did lack of backpressure will sure make it feel less peppy the 6's stock love backpressure and need it to make torque one thing i also would try is put back on stock air and try that i have never seen a cai from one of those vendors (sorry just my opinion) that was very good your money would have been better spent on a k&n filter(about the same money)

You don't have enough back pressure now for a stock motor.

also after a CAI install and an exhaust mod it is important to unhook the batter for about an hour. After the hour the computer will relearn the new fuel mixture (to a degree) and performance will improve over the following 48 driving hours. i did this as i was directed by tunable and have had no problems with my pypes exhaust or my CAI

You don't need to leave it disconnected for an hour. Just disconnect the positive lead and touch it to the negative post, that will discharge the computer then you can connect it back up.

Skymarshal, Not trying to sound like a smart azz but if you can't feel a 30 hp gain in your pants you have a problem. A 30 hp gain in a 190 hp car is a big difference that any one could feel. If you don't believe me drive a 94 -99 Mustang then drive a 00 - 04. Thats a 40 hp difference and it's very noticeable.
