i have an 87 t-top gt with all the bolt ons and recently it began stall at stop signs and now it wont even stay running if you dont feather the gas pedal, when you take off you can hear it popping under the hood (in the intake i guess) then it takes off and runs like it should but as soon as you slow to a stop it dies, I've already replaced the plugs, wires, rotor, coil, fuel filter, checked timing, IAC, mass air sensor, new throttle body and probably more things that i cant think of right now. Anyone have any new suggestions? Any input is appreciated.

Vac leak? Does it idle at all without feathering the pedal? I mean like rough or just flat out dies? Guess it could be a really bad computer problem also but doubt it.

When the computers go south, there tends to often be massive system faults.

Yanking codes is always key - especially since you shouldn't have a functional CEL.

For a real quick test, grab your dizzy and see if it's bolted down tight. Or toss a timing light on and make sure the timing didnt self-retard from a loose hold-down.

Good luck.

no, it won't idle at all unless you are on the gas pedal. Why would it be popping in the intake?

Check your timing...

It will backfire through the intake if there is spark while the intake valves are open.

check timing, Check for Codes, remove your IAC and clean it out with carb cleaner.

backfiring through intake is usually is from running lean.

See "Help me create the Surging Idle Checklist" at http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=534062
for help with your idle problems. The first post contains all the updates to the fixes. I continue to update it as more people post fixes or ask questions.
