Hi guys, I'm having a small nervous breakdown right now! I just installed my freshly rebuilt t-5 tranny and the car is a real bitch to get into reverse. Sometimes it will grind in... some times it takes a few tryes to get into reverse, Other times it goes in fine. tonight it actually started to smell a little when i put it into reverse. The other thing is, the car shakes real bad when the car is backing up in reverse. I just finished my swap to t-5, and when the guy rebuilt the tranny he said that everything looked fine inside... the tranny only had 65,000 miles on it before rebuild, this guy who rebuilt it is a tranny specialist at a ford dealership, so he knows his stuff. Also, the clutch is reall really hard to push in. Its actually really hard to get it into every gear with the SPEC Stage 1. I have not adjusted my cable yet... Is that all my problem is? Or mayeb my Pro-5.0 shifter needs to be adjusted? Can the clutch be a lemon? The throw out bearing already chatters. Lastly, has anyone had problems with the spec stage 1? How can the bearing make noise already, the pedal shimmys too.

P.S. I can hear the tranny whine a little while accelerating and decelerating inside the car, is this normal? All you tranny gurus please let me know hat you guys think. Thanks

When I installed an aftermarket shifter, the sound of gear whine became much more audible inside the car, I assume it just transmits tranny noise better. And I know reverse gear doesn't have a synchro in the T5 so it's common to have to shift into a forward gear then into reverse to avoid that grinding. But sounds like you may have some other stuff going on too..

That is a VERY old thread, look at the date in the lower left of the post. That will keep you from embarrassing yourself.
