Hey guys; I've purchased another '97 GT in the past couple months. I'm very pleased with it but there is a strange problem. I don't know the actual temperature but the temp needle doesn't go past the C, it never gets to the N or anywhere near it. I've replaced the thermostat with a 180* but it didn't help anything. Do you guys have any ideas of why it won't heat up?

I'm sure it's heating up. Do you get heat from your vents or does it blow cold? I would guess that it could be the sending unit for the temp gauge. If you aren't getting heat then either the thermostat is in upside down or you have an air block or frozen coolant inside your system.

Do you have heat in the car? Does the car run ok after it heats up? It could be the sending unit for temp gauge is bad. Don't get this confussed with the engine temp sensor. The sending unit is a 1 wire plug and I believe the temp sensor is a 2 wire plug. This is the way it works on the other Ford cars I've owned. Correct me if I'm wrong. Pearl02.

Edit:Looks like Crew Dawg Beat me to it.
