Car work space rentals?

I have a question that someone here might be able to answer.

I live in an apartment in seattle and dont have a garage. My 87 gt needs a lot of work that I cant do on the street or in a friends garage for weekend. Does anyone know if there are such places like rental garages? I have seen places where you can rent auto storage but can work on your car, I am looking for a place were you can store your car and also work on it?

If anyone has seen any companies or know of any chain storage companies that allow this please let me know,

I am trying to get my stang ready for Mustangs Across America in April 2009.

Thanks!

The biggest problem with being able to work on your car at a storage place is insurance reasons. Like incase the car falls on you. Thats what I've heard. I also need a place to work on my car. I have my job but I cant work on it everyday and thats what I'd really like to do. My buddy rents a space where he can work on his car for 200 bucks a month, hell of a deal if you ask me. Good luck man.

Problem with that is now people see what your doing in there and they will try to break into your garage...i just wouldnt feel comfortable if somehow the building falls down or catches fire and ur car is destroyed:shrug:

I went to buy some slicks that were listed on craigs list once...this guy had several project cars, parts cars, friends cars all stored in his rental space...the space was a hanger bay at a small little air port. He was an Honda guy, I don't know if he split the cost between the other car owners or if he just paid it himself but he had a ton of room an may have gotten a good deal since private aviation is slow around here.

I rent a storage unit at our local storage place. It's 15x20 with 20 amp outlets and overhead lights for $265/month. They let me do basicly whatever I want in there too. There is a guy on the other side of me that has a lift and everyother tool/machine you could need to work on cars. So I'm guessing that it just depends on the place your trying to rent from. I also have insurance on my stang year round so it's got coverage on it while it's in the storage unit. Just call around to the local storage facilities and ask them. The worst they'll say is no, then just move on to the next place. I'm betting you'll find some place that will rent to you. :nice:

i think the reason most places wont let you do stuff like this is insurance reasons, all they need is to have some retard working under their car with an e-jack and then get sued when he gets injured or killed

i hear ya though our garage isnt big enough so all my work is done on the driveway, but its better than nothing.
