Carb guys, How do i run my throttle cable? (SS302, Modular2v)

I took out my stock cable, and replaced it with a lokar universal cable. I bought the lokar throttle cable bracket that you mount on the rear mounting stud of the carb, but the damn throttle cable is too long.

Im trying to figure out how to loop it, or shorten it to make it work and not look retarded.

My crude drawing is a general idea of how much extra length i have compared to where it needs to go.

do i just need to loop this thing, then attach it to the bracket on the carb? It doesnt look like i can just cut the end of the cable off, cut the cable to length, then reattach the end, it looks permanently mounted.

my father in law had a carbed coupe (that had 326 miles on a rebuild 11 sec motor that he sold for $2000 ) but he took the bracket that holds the throttle cable on an efi car and fitted it to the other side, almost right in front of where the cable comes through the firewall. i don't remember exactly how he bolted it up and ran it but just trying to give you an idea to work with.

I think i still have my stock stuff,l but im thinking ill have to make a loop with the cable to make up for the length. it fits perfect from the pedal to the firewall, but its so damn long when it comes out of the firewall its unreal. oh well, i guess ill play with it tonight and see what i can come up with.

yeah i see what you mean. what i was talking about was this bracket:

he flipped it so the end with the bigger hole was pointing up and ran the cable through it so it was a little bit more secure going to the carb linkage, especially since it was looping like you're probably gonna have to do.

I never used a Lokar, i just use a stock carb style cable...sorry. I hear the Lokars are really nice but i don't have a clue about how to set them up.

I think I mentioned it before but try getting a 79-85 carb'd mustang throttle cable.

I fixed it last night. Its amazing what a little time, and beer will do for your creativity...

I took the whole thing apart, cut the shield with a cut off wheel, shortened the cable itself, and made the damn thing work. I forgot to get pictures though

i used a 24" universle cable same as ur's i beleive i used the stock bracket and just adjusted everything, works really well for me, im actually getting 4 barrel now!

After i had it all adjusted last night, i had my wife in the car pumping the pedal checking for binding and to make sure all 4 were opening up, and so far it looks good.. i should have taken before and after pictures, but i forgot to.
