I'm cleaning out my Favorits and thought you Carburetor guys might like this site.

Calculate Required CFM Of Carburetor

You put in your cubic inch and your RPM and how efficient you think your engine is and it calculates the size of the carb you need.

I'm not sure what my VE is, but the CFM came out pretty close to the rule of thumb estimates I've heard before.

Those are pretty neat, and for street motors they are a real eye-opener as to how small a carb your motor really needs. But try this: I put in a typical NHRA Pro/Stock engine specs as best as I can. 500 cubes, 9000 RPM and 100% VE, and it spit out about 1300CFM, which is about half of what any pro stocker is running these days. That's the difference between "theory" and "reality".

True dat. I run about double what it suggests in my 600cfm with absolutely no driveability issues, plenty of power and response and averaging over 17mpg

makes sense...... I have a 408, my pro systems 950hp holley ran like crap, my mighty demon 750 annular runs great but really flows about 900 cfm, I ran a speed demon 650 on it too and low end was great but not like the 750 and the 950 has bettter top end.
