I wan't to make a carpet kit for my 1972 Mach 1 becuase i don't like the stuff they put out as original, i want it to look new almost like the trunk of a chrysler 300M wich would need the carpet, and something that i can form into the shape of all the bumps and stuff in my trunk, but what could i do this with, i was thinking maybe i could get a thin cardboard and wet it down and put it in my trunk so it forums up nice then wrap the carpet around that with a adheisive or something, but im not sure how to do this, any ideas?

try using a carpet that has a wax backing. "Hotmelt". Lees makes this kind for carpet in homes and offices. With this kind of carpet you need to heat it up and then cool it. It will take the form of pretty much anything. Cut the carpet to fit inside the car, leave it pretty big along edges so you have carpet to work with. Use a blow dryer to heat up the carpet and work it into the Surace creating a sort of molded carpet. then place palstic on top and put bags of ice on it to freeze the carpet.
