Carrier bearing install? Rear axle bearings?

Well it looks like I need to replace my carrier bearings, I just replaced the axle bearings and it did not help with the grinding sound coming from the rear end of the car. How hard is it to take apart the rear axle? Can this be done with out too many special tools? I need to basically replace all the bearings possible. Thanks

You'll need a two-jaw puller to remove the carrier bearings, and a press to put the new ones back on. You can rent the puller for free at Autozone (also rent their master bearing installer kit - it has an assortment of alum discs, one of which will fit on top of the hole to provide the puller with a base to press against). I have a press and I'd be happy to press the new bearings on for you.

hey jwcma thanks for being very helpfull, But i am going to buy a used whole nice rear end from a guy around here for $65.00 and slap that in. If you need any body parts this guy has a 90 gt shell that he is trying to get rid of for free. It needs a flat bed to tow. Let me know at Eighty8lx50@aol.com
