car is getting noisy...

I was driving on the highway today and noticed (more than usual) a lot of noise coming from my transmission/shifter area. I put the pro 5.o in it a while back and I knew there would be some noise because of the removal of the boot, but this time it was really loud. Also it didnt feel liek it was shifting as smoothly. The car has 25,100 miles on it and is just a few hundred miles shy of its next checkup. Could I be running low on transmission fluid or is something just going bad? I have no Idea whats up with it

I'd crawl underneath and see if any fluid is leaking. Or pull the outer shifter boot gimmick and take a look. What kind of noise are you hearing?

I noticed the same thing on mine the other day. I think mine was because I am used to riding with the windows down or the stereo on. I just happened to have the windows up and the stereo off and I heard what you are describing. Especially in 5th gear crusing on the highway. I got home and pulled the console out to look at the shifter and everything looked fine. My car only has 2900 miles on it, 1000 with shifter. In my case I think I had just never heard it before, but now I listen every now and then for it.

P.S. I didn't actually pull the whole console out, you know what I mean.

The noise I am hearing is almost like a metal washer clinging against something. As for what gears its in; 4th and 5th make the noise when I am driving. Oh well I have to take the car in to the dealership this weekend. maybe I will have them peep my transmission fluid levels and all that good stuff. Sooner or later I am going to get a new clutch anyways.

i think it's just the new shifter.. mine is noisy as hell also... i have a tri-ax shifter.. the pw that came with it specifically stated that i'd notice alot more noise than the stocker....prolly not fluid leak.. you'd have noticed that by now. ( leakage on the street/driveway etc..)
