If you want loud and badass, Pypes Violators FTW.

If you want cheap and quiet, Dynomax Super Turbos FTW.

FWIW, I'm happy with the Super Turbos on my 'vert, but whenever I switch to a T-5 tranny, I'll probably swap out the muffs for a pair of Violators. I don't like loud exhausts on automatics, generally, because it just gets monotonous - there's not as much pitch change as you go through the gears, compared to when you're shifting a manual.

i'm running a super turbo catback and i'm not too impressed with it. they sound ok, but with the long tubes and x pipe it just doesn't sound loud enough. it was actually louder before the LT's and x, and was OK, but now it doesn't scream until like 4500 rpms. I just can't justify switching it just for a little change in sound though...

Like I said, Super Turbos are quiet.

Besides, quiet's good in my case. No sense trying to make a bone-stock '86 GT AOD 'vert all obnoxiously loud like it's some kind of beast, because I can only do like high 15's or low 16's in the 1/4 mile on a good day.

It should be noted that LT's will usually dampen sound considerably (though I don't know why, exactly). FWIW, my buddy's 90 notch with LT's, an off-road H, and Violators is WAY quieter than the '89 notch I had with stock shorties, off-road X, and Violators.

LT's will dampen it down low, whereas up top it will be louder. I have had shorties, LTs, catted, stock, and off road midpipes (H's, X's, Prochambers).

Mac must have changed, or my idea of drone differs from others, but my old Flows vs my old Macs with the car being identicle they sounded close to eachother as far as tone and noise, and both droned. Even my current mufflers have a drone to them as most fox's have from my experience.

well the tone is similar, imo, but i dont have any drone at all, in fifth gear it is almost silent which is where my flows droned really bad. idk but wont ever go back to flows

I have BBK shorties, pypes catted x pipe, and a violator catback. It sounds good, but too quiet at anything less than 3/4 throttle. No drone tho. Also, fitment left a lot to be desired. Nothing that couldn't be handled in a few days with a hacksaw, but.....
