lol... so my stupid neighbor hates that my car is loud... which it's really not loud just an offroad h and the rest is stock... but anyway this guy came over while i was gone and talked to my dad and told him that having removed my cat's i would need a retune or i would kill my engine...

i told my dad he was retarded...

i know i'm right... i think...

but is there actually any basis for what he said? in some off the wall situation could that be true?

PS- maybe this isn't tech... move if you feel the need to...

You will not harm your engine by removing your cats and will only improve performance by decreasing backpressure. The downside is, you have more emissions coming from your car, and if caught with no cats, you could potentially be fined.

Just my opinion, but removing the cats is not worth the effort.

I don't see the small power gain being worth the encreased emissions and extra noise.

Your current setup won't hurt the motor, and there is no reason to tune the engine.

Aftermarket cats (Magnaflow or others) will do a great job in keeping emissions down, even with only 2 installed. And they won't cost a significant amount of power.

Just my thoughts,
jason

Im running bbk ceramic unequal shorty headers, bbk offroad x pipe and maganflow catback. I personally love the smell of no cats, and it frees up a little more hp and is also louder, plus why buy the stupid cat version x or h pipe when there like over 200 bucks, maybe more i think. I got my x pipe for like 120.00 of ebay brand new. Piss on cats. there a waste of money.

Drive over to his house....park beside a large window and rev it up to about 5500 RPM's a few dozen times and try to break his window....Then say well my engine didn't die but your window did. Maby try this at like 4:00AM

Can you post your test results?

In my experience there isn't much chance of passing without cats.
That's just me though.

Thanks,
jason
