I've decided to buy a magnaflow catback system. Its much cheaper than Bassani and SS so it fits my budget. I'm not sure if I want shorties or LT headers or if I want a H or X midpipe. These mods will be added later but i'm wanting the catback now so my question is does it matter what headers or midpipe I get when considering a catback system? I didnt know if the style of the catback determines if it will go better with X or H pipes and LT's or shorties.

An X pipe goes good with magnaflows and yes, sometimes it does matter what midpipe you put on a catback. For ex: Putting an x pipe on a car with flowmasters is pointless. It defeats the whole purpose of the x pipe.

You also might wanna consider a prochamber if you don't want an x pipe or h pipe.

Yeah, from what I've seen H pipes are more for the chambered catbacks whereas the x's dig the straight through designs. I've always ran the bassani o/r x and it sounded sooooo much better going from the chambered macs to the straight through bassanis. As for headers, I'd reccomend you stay away from Mac and buy something nicer. The bolts that came with my mac headers were pretty crappy and love to leak, just my experience though.
