Catback problems

I spent most of the afternoon yesterday cutting off the old cat back and installing a new mac cat back. Everything went well except I'm scraping in the rear end when it hits a bump/depression in the road. It seems like it's scraping near the rear axle on a metal bar that moves up and down (Don't know what the right word for it is, it's closer to the middle of the car, comes off the frame and hooks onto the rear axle). I messed around for a long time trying to get it to not scrape but I must be doing something wrong. I reused the rubber bushing from the old exhaust hangars and followed the instructions. Anybody have this problem or know a trick to fixing it?

I had that probelm with my SLP. Mine was the part of the exhaust that goes over the axle. All I did was loosen up the clamps and adjust the angle of the pipes and tighten them back up again. That did the job for me.

You should be able to move the angle of them so they dont hit. Hope that helps.

Yeah that's what I just did 20 mins ago w/ 2 people pushing the car down but I couldn't see anything...I'm gona get in there when the exhaust cools down and re-do it all

Most people do have problems fitting catbacks through there, I know I did myself. Ultimately, I ended up sacraficing the appearance for fit. The tips are slightly cocked so that everything underneath the car clears. Its just way too tight under there.

My MAC cat-back is really close to i ended up having to bend a flange that stuck off of my gas tank to get everything to line up without touching or banging... just play around with it and dont get frustrated because eventually you will get it right..

I finally got it to fit right w/ my roommate helping me hold the mufflers in place. It's still real close but I drove around and hit some dips w/o hearing any bad scrapes. I spent a while trying to line up the tips too :bang: that was a pita and they're still not perfect...the pipe is rubbing on the gas tank, I don't think that should be a problem?

thanks for the replies
