Cats or no cats? Need input please.

I have a set of bassani headers, and I plan on going bassani all the way back. I was wondering about the sound differance with and without cats. I dont have to worry about the emissions. Just curious how much louder it would be with out cats.

I primarily just drive this car on weekends but alot with my wife. I would like a nice smooth tone, thats not always cracking and popping if i punch it. If i can save a couple hunge by buying the non-catted pipe that would be a bonus. But, if its going to be way to loud or not-so "smooth" without the cats I'll just buy the catted pipe.

btw car is a 03 gt, and like i said all SS/ceramic headers, mid-pipe, cat-back.

No emissions=no cats. Why would you pay more for less hp? and if you dont want popping sound, dont get X. To me, X sounds like import ricer mustang. H is the way all the old school stangs came in the 60s and they had no cats back then. H sounds more muscular and X sounds raspy on high revs. This will prolly eliminate Bassani mid-pipe cause I dont think they make an H. I always use Mac and have for all 4 of my 4.6s. I used it on my old 96GT, used it on the Bullitt(best sound ever), and on my 2 97 Cobras.

I'm planning on a siamese X pipe (catted). I don't have to worry about emissions either, I just don't dig the smell without cats. From what I've heard (from people and different sound clips) that the siamese designed X sounds good (in my case, with Flows).

you havent heard my set-up. no rasp at all. bassani and BBK are famous for their raspy xpipes.

X pipe NO CATS

With your Bassani headers go with a Bassani O/R X and a MagnaFlow cat back. My buddy has that set up on his 03 MACH1. It doesn't sound like rocks in a can, It sounds Wicked !

BBK o/r x pipes sound like Rice Crispies. You know snap,crackle,pop. Another Buddy of mine has one on his 98 Snake with the stock cat back and it's real raspy.
