I have a 1999 cobra with bassani cat-back. I want to get an x-pipe but I don't know if I should get one with cats or without cats. The reason why I'm not sure about the one without cats is that it might be too loud and not sound clean. I had a 1996 cobra with flowmasters and I put a BBK x-pipe without cats. It sounded good when I would rev it but when the rpms came down it sounded nasty. So I ended up putting two cats on it to even out the noise. It sounded better after that. So let me know with what x-pipe I should go with.

my 97 didn't have cats, but I had weld in pipes, and flowmasters, and it sounded way too electronic for me, that and it was too loud and obnoxious.

If you can, round up a few other 'stangers local to you who are running similar exhaust combos and listen to their exhausts.

Exhaust preference is a very subjective matter and taking the time to listen to the two different exhaust combos will allow you to decide if one setup is "too loud" or "too quiet."

Generally speaking, the catted midpipes nowadays are right up there with their offroad counterparts - unless you are running a power adder. If so, you start to see more power gains from the offroad midpipes.

G'luck!
