I have a 97 GT 5speed. The stock 2.73s are noisy / whining. I have a little over 55,500 miles on the car. I'm thinking of going to 3.73s and was wondering how that will effect my top end? Right now with the 2.73s I have pushed 150mph (NO SH$T). I'm stationed here in Germany with the U.S.ARMY, and have been on a couple of clear Autobahns to check it out. I don't recommend anybody else try it out unless they upgrade the stock brakes which really suck over 120mph.
The only mods to my car are BBK lowering springs and a home made cold air induction.

I live in Germany, too, and have 3.73s on mine installed. They are perfect on the 'Bahn - the 5th gear tops out at around 5500 RPM, rolling with 160 MPH (I think, cause the speedo ends at 150).

Please find my other mods done on the car in sig below ...

You'll like the 3.73's they'll bring up your cruising RPM a bit, but you'll get a real nice seat of the pants feel with the and it won't hurt your top end. Don't forget to change the speedo gear while your at it, or your speedometer won't read accurately......although it already sounds like it's out to lunch.;)
