I am putting in a used clutch with about 50% life left on it. I am considering have the trans checked out because sometimes if i put it into 2nd it will pop out of gear. Not all the time, but it still does it. Also when i put the car into second it does not feel like all the other gears. It feels very different. Anyone think its worth it to have it checked out while its out? I need the trans in by saturday becasue im going to the track. How much do you think they will charge to inspect it?? Thnx

Edit: The trans does have 132,000 miles on it.

Well your tranny should be gone through at that mileage first of all. But if it pops out of gear then usually that gears is "blown" or there is internal damage.

I have to say though going to the track with it like that seriously isn't a smart deal, you only accelerate the condition to the point where you will eventually not even be able to use 2nd anymore by racing with it Expect a rebuild or replacement soon or just be prepared to start skipping 2nd gear.

On a side note, I am surprised it is second gear doing this. Usually it is 3rd that blows due to the poor design of the T5. How hard do you or have you slammed your car into 2nd gear if you don't mind me asking?

well the reason i am putting a new clutch in is the car is going to be down in about 2 weeks. DOwn for the underneath to be completely tore apart and re done. So i want the clutch just to last. Plus.. it was free... and im still learning how to drive a stick shift, so i figured why not?
