Changing H Pipe Out

I was going to put my off-road pipe on today but I broke the bolts off the back of He manifold on the driver side. I didn’t even attempt the passenger side. How do you remove the studs are they threaded into the manifold?

The same thing happened when I changed out my son's 03 H pipe. Even after hitting them with pb blaster and letting them sit, then heating the nuts. Snapped like it was their job. They are threaded into the manifold but even when I cherry hotted the manifold flange with a torch they barely wanted to turn and there isn't much room to get on them with anything.

I just cut them flush and drilled through them. (They snap easy but are a pain to drill) Used longer bolts and put nuts behind the flange.

The passenger side came off fine thankfully since they are harder to get to. Before trying those spray the heck out of them with a good penetrating oil and let them sit for an hour or 2 to give yourself the best chance of getting them off.

Well we will see what happens I’m just going to try and sell the car as is I guess should of never bought it to begin with it’s been a headache since I bought it not running lol. I’d keep messing with it if I had access to a lift to make it easier.

Anybody? Really no one broke the bolts besides us lol. I was thinking die grinder with a deburring bit and slot the flange to make it a for style to slide the bolts in.

Honestly the bolts break soooooooooo often that it's almost the exception for them to not break.

To remove the bolts consider using penetrating oil and heat. Better yet. Use the penetrating oil before breaking them off. Go slow. Give the oil time to work.

The thread does not state HOW much stud can still be accessed. Sometimes it's possible to double nut the stud.

Other options include store bought broken stud extractors. There are many different designs. Again consider penetrating oil and HEAT.

Another option is to remove the exhaust manifolds from the heads and take to a muffler shop as they have the experience and the high heat needed to remove. However some people may point out that with the exhaust manifold off of the car the options to remove the studs go way up.
