Okay guys I have no freaking idea how to access the light behind my heater assembly. I need to get the blue filter out so I can put a red bulb in so it matches the rest of my guages. Also if anyone happens to know what kind of bulb is used in it that would be helpful to. Is it a 194 like the dash cluster? Thanks guys I have found the wire that goes to it and everything but I don't know how to go about getting the bulb out and replacing the filter.

I haven't, but follow the wires. You may have to remove the assembly, and there is a good chance they won't make a red bulb in that size.

If they don't make a red bulb I will get another red filter from autometer to just put around it. Removing that assembly was what I was worried about. It looks like a can of worms. If that is indeed what needs to be done, I will do it.

Remove your radio for easy access to the light. It is located at the top center of the heater switch at the rear. The wire i think is blue, so just follow it to the back of the heater control and pull on the rubber light housing. It is not the blade type 194, but is more similar to the shifter light IIRC. NPD has a bulb identifier in their catalog.

The bulb socket snaps into the heater control housing and the bulb comes out of the socket when you press down and rotate it 1/4 turn.

Okay so its just like the clock lights basically. So I can remove my radio no sweat, to get the woodgrain face plate there are two screws on the top, but I can't seem to locate the ones from the bottom. Should I just leave it be and access without that? The other important thing is the light filter, can I get that out without taking the heater out?

Just pull out on the lower part. There are threaded studs but there are no nuts attaching them. You'll need to pull the woodgrain radio/heater cover in order to get your hand in there to remove the bulb. As far as the light filter, you won't be able to access it without removing the heater control. Do you have A/C? If not you can remove the heater wiring connector and the two slide cables and a few bolts. Then the heater control will slide out and you can take it apart to get to the filter.

Wow that was a major pain in the ass. I just finaly got fed up with it and started ripping it apart, got the filter out and ready to go. Was definitely a huge can of worms. Wouldn't be that bad if I didn't have to go after the filter though.
