Hey guys. I am going to have to get my car painted at some point, and all along I have planned on sticking with red. Recent run-ins with the cops near my house have led me to want a less obvious color. I am thinking black, as I've always liked black stangs. My car was red from the factory, so the engine bay and jams are all red. If I wanted to have a shop change it over to black, do they have to pull the motor to paint the engine bay? I don't want to have to yank the motor and all of that to get it done. If anyone has any info on changing the color over, please post it up.

I'm going to have a shop do it, not a MAACO place. I have some connections, I just want to know how much they have to tear appart to do it.

Sell it and buy the color you want or else one of 2 things will happen. One you will pay out the a$$ for a GOOD color change. Two it will turn out like a$$ if you don't spend the cash.

don't bother changing the color unless you're willing to spend or have the car already stripped...its a pain! been there, done that, changed my notch from lack to yellow, but it was a complete roller

hey im in MA too and looking for some new paint. my car is a dark green, so black wont look that bad if someone just sprays the outside. i also have a vert, so it should be cheaper as well shouldnt it? im willing to pay around 1000 for getting rid of the old green, and having it properly painted black. can it be done and some local areas?
