Im changing my oil to synthetic before I drive to Philly this weekend, reccomendations on what weight I should use? Yes Im using the Mobil 1 filter. Also throwing in some Lucas. Not looking to start a long thread, just asking if you have made the switch, what witch weight gave you the best results.

You found that a syn 5-30 is better than a Dino. 5-20?

5w20 MIGHT gain you 2-3 rwhp an .7 mpg. but I will not run it. ford made the change to the 5w20 for the mpg gain, however, they have not changed their engine tolerances to compensate for this. i would stick with the 5w30. but its up to you. im sure in the short run, it wont matter, but 100k miles from now, who knows

I use Mobil 1 5w20 full synthetic and a Motorcraft filter. The Motorcraft filter is much better at appropriately controling drain back on these motors.

There is nothing wrong with running the 5w20 in regards to oil/bearing clearances. The oil/bearing clearances on these factory motors are plenty tight.
