I'm about to buy a tri-ax soon and heard that royal purlpe tranmission oil will help with the whine of my 3650. If it does help then i want to change it out. How hard is it to change it? I consider myself an ok mechanic so i'm not really worried, but I looked under the tranny and didn't find anywhere to drain it. I'm sure i'm missing something. Any info/links/advice would be great. Thanks guys/gals.

Do you have to jack ur car up evenly? I dont want to over/under fill it.
You can either jack it up evenly, or when the fluid has finished draining, drop the jack so that the car is level while you fill it. The latter is the easier way to level it out.

I'm assuming you have an '03 GT. In that case, you will need 3.2-3.8 quarts of ATF that either meets or exceeds the MERCON specs.

RP FAQ on their site says you can use MAX ATF or their Synchromax for Mercon spec. You could give their customer service a call and see what the difference is, but either one is fine. Their tech was pretty good the one time I called.

Having said that I use Ford Mercon ATF in my T-45...its cheap and works. I've been thinking about going to RP for smoother shifting from 1-2 during normal driving. However, I heard from a reliable source that the cheap stuff was better at high RPM shifting...who knows. Mercon ATF has gotten me to 102k with no problems.
