Depends on what kind of deals you can get. Some people do the whole conversion for $350 and some $800. It really depends on what kind of deals you can find.

i am doing the swap here soon. I got all my swap parts for 400 including the t5, i think i got a good deal. I think most of the times they are around 500-700 or even more. but i found a car that i considered buying as a parts car, the motor was gone from in so i wanted of course the t5 parts and all the extra stuff. the car turned out to be pretty rough so i just bought all the t5 parts.

look hard, easiest and cheapest way is to buy a parts car.

but also, figure in the cost of a new clutch kit. i doubt you will use the old clutch...

back in the day i always looked at the almight "t5 swap" as something that would be hard and even harder to find the parts and time. But in reality its pretty east, i have done my reasearch and reading and it should go smoothly, except for maybe the pedals...

Cheapest way would probably be to buy a wrecked 5.0 that's a 5 speed, and just swap everything over. Find a wrecker that's really messed up but has a good drivetrain and just buy it all and you probably will end up with extra parts you can sell to make up for what you paid for the car in the first place. You might end up profiting from your swap.
