Cheapest way to remove limiter?

99/00's with 16" rims have a ~125 MPH fuel cut off or something. In 4th gear, at ~125 MPH, ~5500 RPMs you won't go any faster. I've been told it was a safety thing because of the H rated tires on the 16" stock rims.

Anyways, what is the cheapest way to remove the limiter so when I get dyno'd, I can rev up to redline? I don't really want to spend $200+ (chip/flash) to do that. I'm still waiting to get tires/gears before I get a chip/flash so I can recal the speedo at the same time.

You ARE planning on doing this 125+ on the track, and not on the street, aren't you?
Dyno. It's kinda retarded that I go get dyno'd and it only goes up to 5500 RPMs. I'm still making power up there, but I don't know for how much longer.

I'm still waiting for the dyno guy to put up the computer readout so I can see when the numbers actually start to flatten and fall.

Wow, that limiter sucks.

Your car is making really good power past 5k and the "curve" looks more like a plateau. :nice:

I know it would be more expensive than a Speedcal, but what about a mail order SCT chip? You might find a few ponies and fix your limiter problem. The guys at Modular Depot have gotten some really good results with their mail-order chips. Even most of the guys with cams have gotten their chips and found them to be dead-on.

Yeah, it really does. I totally forgot the car would cut off in 4th so on the dyno day, it seemed like I was bouncing off the rev limiter.

I wanted to hold off on a chip/flash until after I got gears, which I'm not sure of the time frame. I guess I'll just have to save up and pay to have a chip burned again when I get gears.

you could always buy the chip already set up for the gears
