Here's a question for you guys.

About a month ago, my check engine light started coming on. Basically, if I'm going down the road and just cruising, it never comes on, but if I give it a little bit of gas, it willl come on for a few seconds them come off. My dad things its the MAC air intake I installed, but I had it on there for several months and the CEI never came on. My thinking is its a sensor that needs cleaned or replaced. Anyone have any ideas where I should start?

ditto -- good chance the codes will point to O2 sensors, among other possibilities.

It's probably not your upgrade. Mine's completely stock and does exactly the same thing. If I give it more gas, it goes away.

I've been ignoring it for years and never had any problems. My emissions pass perfectly.

Dump the codes and see what the computer says is wrong…

Here's the link to dump the computer codes with only a jumper wire or paper clip and the check engine light, or test light or voltmeter. I’ve used it for years, and it works great.

See http://www.troublecodes.net/Ford/
OR
See http://www.dalidesign.com/hbook/eectest.html for more descriptive help
OR
See http://www.mustangworks.com/articles/electronics/eec-iv_codes.html

IF your car is an 88 or earlier stang, you'll have to use the test lamp or voltmeter method. There is no functional check engine light on the 88's except possibly the Cali Mass Air cars.

Codes have different answers if the engine is running from the answers that it has when the engine isn't running. It helps a lot to know if you had the engine running when you ran the test.

Awesome, thanks for all the help guys. Here's another question. When I go to Autozone and get the codes pulled, do I have to have the CEI lit in order to get the code to show up on the check?

The light does not have to be on - the computer remembers the codes, and not all codes set off a check engine light.

if you are pulling codes for your '91 Autozone probably can't help.the Autozone here in Raynham Mass. can only pull codes on newer cars like your '95 thats why i bought my own scanner for my '90 7up vert. for $35. good investment.
