so the other day i was leaving my friend (98COBRA281)'s house and i had to light em' up in the stang. And then my check engine light came on. so the next day i put the OBDII on it and it said "maximum engine rpm/speed limit reached" and i'm like wtf  i've never seen a code thrown for that

 if that were true i have no car left, i missed a shift once and put it to 7200rpm

Damn, thats up there.

I know a guy who used to spray his stock 4.6 up to 7000 RPM.

Notice I said used to...:D

But to 96GT281, I have not heard of that happening before. If you can, clear the code and see if it comes back on.

6k, dude, that is way to high to be shifting around, on the 98 GT i shift at 5600 rpm.....thats were the max horsepower is on my car before it starts dying down. (i know this cause of my dyno) and if ur car is stock, i think around 5200 rpm is a good shift range, but whoa, 6k is a lot. no need to be around there is ur car is stock.

Agreed for a non-PI Stang.

They choke hard up top in stock form, so revving over 52-5400 or so is just harder on the engine for no power to gain.

6k is an acceptable shift point for a PI Stang that has some breathing mods to it. Even at the track I still keep it around 5600 RPM.
