Check engine lights...

Okay... I'm running the risk of trying to diagnose my problem on two different threads. But since the other thread is stagnet... I have a similar question.

Is there a list somewhere from or by Ford that will definetly trigger the "check engine" light to be activated? I'm still at work and have not taken the car to have the codes dumped yet. But I'm curious as to what codes would activate the light and what ones won't.

While trying to diagnose my mysterious boggin issue.... one would think that major issues with the fuel system, egr valves, faulty 02 sensors, MAF problems, etc, etc would all send a signal to light up my check engine light.

Nada... doesn't happen.

Seems as though it should to me.

So back to my question... anyone know of a list on codes setting off the check engine light?

thanks again for your time...

See Jrichker's posts for retrieving codes. All the info you need is there.

As for a big issue and no CEL, the self-diagnostics are kinda primitive on these cars. And if a non-monitored component (or a primary component) goes south, the EEC will often not pick up on it.

Good luck.
