Hi! I just changed the clutch in my 65 with toploader and 157 tooth fly wheel. Before I installed the new one (ZOOM 30000 series) I tested to just slide the clutch disc on the trans output shaft and I thougt it felt a little loose..didn't fit as tight as the old one. I supposed it should be like that so I finished the job. Now it hit me that maybe I've bougth a clutch for a GM car. Their output shaft is 1 1/8" while mine is 1 1/16". That could explain the poor fit..
So now I wonder if anyone knows if it's even possible to fit a GM clutch in a Mustang? Would the pressure plate fit the fly wheel and is it as many splines on a GM output shaft as a Ford?

PS. I bought the clutch kit from a person who claimed it would fit 289/302

You're confusing the input with the output. Input end is where the clutch disc rides. And yea, a 1-18" x 10 spline disc would slide onto a Ford 1-1/16" x 10 spline input. But it wouldn't work very well after awhile.
