chip where valve stud should go!! HELP

Have a 66 Ford with a 302 and 351 heads...heads are new and engine newly rebuilt. Some background: have a smoking problem on the passenger side, (think a ring is stuck) 2 plugs were fouled...we replaced along with new wires (clearance issue). While running noticied some metal "particles" falling...next thing you know...there is a chip on the head where the valve stud should go...there are two chips...and the studs will no longer screw the valve cover on. I have never seen this before and don't know what the heck to do!!!

PLEEEEEZ POST A PIC. If the threads are messed up, try a timecert to fix it. I hesitate to comment more without a pic so I can fully understand the problem.

That don't look so good. Is there any threads at all left in there? Maybe you can JB weld a stud in and use it instead of a bolt.

the stud is still threaded, and are able to put the valve cover back on, but I'm sure it will leak oil. If this is chipping...why? and does this mean this head will chip/crack some more.

It's a flaw in the head, or perhaps it was once dropped. If the inner part of the wall is intact, it won't leak, but it'll look odd.
