Hey guys I know this guy that is selling a chip for a 2000 Mustang GT for 100 bucks, he told me that he paid 400 bucks for it. He said if our computers are the same they will work, so are the 2000 GTs have the same computer as my 2001 GT? And is it worth 100 bucks I have only seen the hand held programers I've never heard about any chips for newer Mustangs, but he said it was a chip.

Thanks

depending on what chip it is and what software, for 100 buxs it might be alright for a core...but u really need to get a custom tune. no 2 vehicles are the same and the difference between 00 to 01 processors wont allow his tune to work with your car. Most local tuners will charge you a fee for bringing your own chip, and theres a reason for that, there money they make is put into the cost of the chip and resale, when u take that away they are getting less for their tune. good luck, kevin @ wicked

I dont think its worth it, I had a chip on mine before and didnt notice a differnce at all with it, of course I didnt have it dynoed with it and then without or had taken my car to the track with it an seen what it did, just didnt feel anything at all. Just wait and get a Diablo handheld tuner. You can to so much more with one of them. just my .2cents

On a programer how do they work? I know that you plug it in and answer some questions. But what is everything that you can do on one?

You will be able to adjust the timing and A/F ratio across broad ranges, and adjust the speedometer for gear changes. They will also datalog you sensor's inputs and read/clear trouble codes, and can be used as a medium for downloading a custom tune into your vehicle's computer.
